YG Entertainment explained its recent 'reverse' strategy for promoting Big Bang member Taeyang's new album, saying it is aimed at prolonging the singer's activities for his new solo album for as long as possible.
Taeyang released digital single "Where U At" from his upcoming first regular album in mid-October and will promote "Wedding Dress", released today, till the end of the year, but neither songs are the title track for the album.
"It has become more difficult for singers to promote tracks on their album other than their title song these days with the entire record being released online and people's listening patterns changing rapidly," Yang Hyun-suk, founder of YG and also producer of the singer, wrote on his agency's official website on Thursday.
"Taeyang had requested he be able to promote his album for as long as he can so that was our focus this time," said Yang.
The producer went onto explain that his agency therefore decided to carry out "reverse promotion" -- promoting songs apart from the title song first, and then unveiling the title song along with the entire album.
Taeyang was the first Big Bang member to debut as a solo artist, releasing his first mini-album "HOT" in May 2008 which produced two hit singles titled "Prayer" and "Look Only at Me".
His recent digital single "Where U At" peaked at No. 6 on Korea's Mnet Singles Chart last month and his full-length album is set for release early next year.

PSY revealed in a recent interview that he thinks G-Dragon is a very good role model and the most talented out of all the idols.
As a songwriter, he was asked about his hoobaes and he answered, "In terms of talent, it'sBig Bang. Especially, G-Dragon. He's so good. Idols that do real music and just plain idols have different futures ahead of them. If the idols right now can do music independently and compose themselves, they will have the same energy and passion they have right now 10 years later. G-Dragon will be one of them."
He also spoke about the plagiarism controversy surrounding G-Dragon, "It depends on the person who's listening. Regardless, from that incident, I'm sure he's grown a lot."
Psy continued to compliment the Big Bang leader, "Aside from the publicized controversy, I still have big hopes for G-Dragon's next work. If I have any kind of expectations, I just hope for something that is his own and authentic as his next project."

When you think of groups like 4minute and 2NE1, what comes to mind? From leggings with gaping holes to rose-patterned swimsuits, the bold and trailblazing fashion sense of kpop's trendiest groups undoubtedly plays a big factor in creating the unique identity of every group. Recently, many personal belongings of various celebrities have been put up for auction to benefit charity.
In this Celebrity Volunteers event sponsored by bntNews and Hyundai, Big Bang, 4minute, 2NE1 and Goo Hye Sun donated personal wardrobe items and paraphernalia in order to help children's charities in Korea. Furthermore, Wheesung and Chunsin-soo will be present for a signing event as well.
"We hope that poor children will be happier and better off with the proceeds from these charity items," a Hyundai official expressed. "We want to give them hope."
Since they are role models for many people both in Korea and worldwide, it's great to see celebrities out and about to support the community. This event will be held from November 20-26, so start collecting your money for these one-of-a-kind items!

Entertainment companies, including YG Entertainment, were ordered to correct their unfair contracts after a government inspection by the Korean Fair Trade Commission (FTC).
FTC announced on the 20th that 198 contracts between an entertainer and their company were corrected after their inspection on 20 entertainment companies. The inspection was carried out from April to May of this year.
For example, YG deleted the clause that reads “After the day that the contract between the company and the entertainer ends, the company is relieved from the duty to pay royalties from recorded materials to the entertainer and all proceeds from said materials belong to the company,” meaning that YG’s entertainers can now receive royalties from the songs they made with YG even after they leave the company. YG also changed the clause that reads “Entertainer must receive permission of the company in order to travel outside of Korea” to “Entertainer must inform of their out-of-country travel plans to the company beforehand to not cause any disruptions in management planning process,” meaning that YG’s entertainers like Big Bang and 2NE1 now may travel outside of the country without YG’s permissions.
Entertainers are now given the right to retire at will as well. “Entertainer may not cease performance or retire during the life of the contract without permission of the company” was changed to “If entertainer seeks to cease performance or retire during the life of the contract, the company and the entertainer may discuss the topic.” “Entertainer must use their talent and skills in accordance with the company’s decisions” was changed to “Entertainer must perform by fully employing their talent and skill, and the company must aid the entertainer with appropriate opportunities,” giving entertainers a bit more legal freedom with their decision making.
Overall, clauses that overly invade an entertainer’s privacy, invade an entertainer’s right to be a part of the decision making process for their career and performances, and clauses that force entertainers to perform for the company’s promotional activities without compensation and without consent of the entertainer were corrected.
This is a step towards a better environment for Korean entertainers, but this is just a small step. Merely 20 entertainment companies were inspected and corrected, as 320 companies under Korean Entertainment Producers Association were not a part of this inspection. FTC acknowledges the fact that unfair contracts are common in the entertainment industry and plans on directing the association in inspecting and correcting its members. It may be hard to imagine SM giving freedom to its entertainers, especially after the whole Kangin fiasco, but one day SNSD will be free to travel to Canada, to hang out with me without having to receive SM’s approval. One day.

GDragon, who is currently promoting his solo debut minialbum, has picked f(x) member Sulli as the cutest junior singer. GDragon was on ‘Jung SeonHee Love FM’ aired on 9th September, when they mentioned about f(x) member Sulli during their talk on the radio show.
Jung SeonHee has asked, “What do you think about love?”, and GDragon replied, “Throwing it all out”. And then she asked, “What is your ideal style?” and he answered, “Cute girls”.

Included in the star-studded cast of the new KBS drama, “Iris,” Top of Big Bang showed his excitement at the drama’s showcase held in Seoul’s Cheonggye Plaza on Monday. Some 400 fans and journalists have come to the special event.
In his second acting role Top admitted that he’s still getting used to acting and learning a lot from other actors. His first appearance on a TV drama was in another KBS series, “I Am Your Teacher.” He said that acting and singing are totally different things and neither one is easy. Other members of Big Bang have given Top their steady support so that he can be his best in this blockbuster series.
“Iris” is a spy thriller starring some of Korea’s top stars like Lee Byung-hun, Kim Tae-hee, Kim Seung-woo and Kim So-yeon.

Big Bang leader GDragon has expressed his grief for the late actress Jang JinYoung.
GDragon wrote on his Me2Day account on 1st September, “I knew the news too late. I wish good afterlife for the deceased. Let’s take some take to do prayer.”
Known to have been fighting against stomach cancer, news of Jang JinYoung’s passing on 1st September has shocked many in the entertainment zone and fans. Even though GDragon was not close to Jang JinYoung, he paid respect to her as a junior in the entertainment zone.
Meanwhile, GDragon also wrote on his me2day, “I’m working hard and filming for a MV now. If you wait for a while more, you can see it too. I will work hard.”
Meanwhile, GDragon is promoting the title song ‘Heartbreaker’ off his 1st solo album.

As you all know by now, B.I is the cute 13 year old boy who is featured in MC Mong's song 'Indian Boy'. B.I, real name Kim Hyunbin, is also dubbed as the '2nd G-Dragon' because he started rapping at the age of 13, the same age G-Dragon began training. Even MC Mong says "When I look at B.I, he reminds me of a young G-Dragon."
Well it looks like the two have finally met when G-Dragon started promoting his song 'Heartbreaker' on various music shows. On the 30th, B.I posted a picture on his cyworld with G-Dragon titled "With G-Dragon hyung" and its been a big topic. B.I looks quite happy because he's a fan of G-Dragon. On Yoo Hewchul's Sketchbook, B.I said "I want to live like MC Mong but I want to look like G-Dragon." Haha, smart boy.
Not only did he meet G-Dragon but B.I met rapping legend Tiger J.K. B.I sure is one lucky boy and let's hope that B.I becomes a great of a rapper as G-Dragon and MC Mong!

The Big Bang member who transformed as an actor turned singer, Choi SeungHyun(T.O.P) is ready for his first acting challenge.

Big Bang's first Japanese major album "BIGBANG" debuted at #3 in the weekly Oricon album charts dated August 31, 2009. This makes Big Bang the first overseas artists ever to enter the Japanese Top 5 with their first three consecutive releases, i.e. their debut album, their first single ("MY HEAVEN") and their second single ("GARA GARA GO!!").
Meanwhile, their best of album "ASIA BEST 2006-2009" which was released on the same day as their first major album debuted at #20 in the weekly album charts. At the same time, it ranks 4th in the weekly overseas album charts.
Their live DVD "2009 Big Bang Live Concert 'Big Show'" is at #1 in the Oricon music DVD charts and at #5 in the rental DVD charts.
In a thank you message to the fans posted on Aug 27 at the official Japanese blog their Japanese staff described Big Bang as a band who is - just two months after their major debut - continuing to make the transition from artists representing Korea to a band representing Japan and even all of Asia. They thanked the fans for all of their support which made it possible to achieve such a great success in Japan. Together with Big Bang themselves they want to work just as hard so the band can continue to be just as successful with their future Japanese activities and releases.

Big Bang will have a guerilla concert in Shin Chon
Big Bang, who have finished their official activities, will have a guerilla concert.
They will be performing a hot stage at the ‘Hite Cool Concert’ on the 26th at the Shin Chon Migliore plaza in Seoul.
Big Bang, who are currently the models for Hite Beer, are planning to start off with ‘So fresh, So Cool,’ which was used as the background music for the CF, and perform a variety of their hit songs like ‘Sunset Glow.’
Big Bang’s leader G-Dragon said, “It feels like this will be Big Bang’s last performance for 2009. We will be practicing more and more so that we can show the best performance where we can send out as much cool heat of youth as we want. ”
There will be other famous Korean performance teams other than Big Bang taking the stage this day. Hanwool Sori, Joeun Chingoodeul (Good Friends), Animation Crew, Hot Night Crew, and more will perform.
On the other hand, Big Bang will be releasing a live album and behind the scenes story photobook of their concert, Big Show, called ‘Show, another Big Show.’ After G-Dragon and Taeyang’s solo releases, Top and Seungri’s drama contributions, and other solo activities, Big Bang will officially enter the Japanese music market the second half of the year.

Big Bang will release the making book ‘Show, Another Big Show’ for their ‘Big Show’ concert which took place in February this year on the 22nd.
The book talks about the behind-the-scene stories of the concert which took place over the span of 5 days - 30th January to 3rd February - during the concert which saw about 50,000 fans attending it.
The book, of over 600 pages thick, will be organized into 8 themes - ‘A Day Like A Lie’, ‘8 photos of transformation into actors’, ‘Dazzling Struggle’, ‘Wonderfu Life’, ‘Rehearsal for V.I.P’, ‘The Day of BIGSHOW’, ‘Oh My Friends!’ and ‘Stylish’.
What is special about this book is that usually stars will have concert DVD and concert special DVDs, but Big Bang chooses to release the concert special in the form of a book which brings through the thoughts and process of making the concert such a successful one.

The official name YG upcoming group, also known as Female Big Bang to netizens, has been revealed.
YG Entertainment revealed on 27th March, “The 4-member group, known as female Big Bang, will be named 21 (투 애니 원).”
The meaning to the name is that the group will produce music that is fresh like the age of 21. And like the number ‘21′ in a game of blackjack, it meant to never lose.
‘21′will consist of members Sandara Park, Park Bom, CL and Gong Min Ji. And the team leader will be CL.
The group has already made topic amongst netizens when they did a CF for LG CYON with group Big Bang. Their CF was also revealed on 27th March. The group will debut beginning of May.
Furthermore, their debut album will have Big Bang GDragon as one of their producers, making their debut an even more anticipating one for music fans.
