Min Ho: This advertisers' darling may be co-stars' darling ♥ 6:19 PM
THE Taiwanese call their drama Meteor Garden, while the Koreans have named their production Boys Over Flowers.
But as long as it's an adaptation of Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango and the plot is good, the careers of its hot leading actors continue to blossom.
This is especially true for Lee Min Ho, who plays Goo Joon Pyo, the big, bad leader of F4 - a band of privileged youths in an elite school.
Other members of this foursome are Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Bum and Kim Joon, who acted as Yoon Ji Hoo, So Yi Jung and Song Woo Bin respectively.
Min Ho has clinched multiple product-endorsement contracts, and also appears in many magazines.
In Korea, this advertisers' darling endorses handphones and mobile services (Samsung AnyCall Magic Hole, Samsung AnyCall Haptic, LG Telecom), skin products (Etude House), an alcoholic drink (Cass Beer), food (Dunkin' Donuts, Market O), fashion (Trugen), and even a car (Cadillac CTS).
His photo spreads are also found in magazines such as Singles and Vogue Girl.

'Just like siblings'
Since Boys Over Flowers aired in Korea in January, there has been speculation in the Korean media that he is dating pop group Davichi's Kang Min Kyung.
A self-taken photo of Min Ho and Min Kyung in a karaoke room has spread like wild fire on the Internet.
Min Ho told the media: 'After that photo was widely circulated, I predicted there would be rumours.
'I think there will also be rumours about me and three other female artistes - Park Bo Young, Mun Chae Won and Choi Eun Seo.'
Min Kyung has reportedly been on very friendly terms with Min Ho ever since she entered showbiz.
Bo Young, who acted in movie Scandal Makers, and Chae Won, who acted in drama Painter Of Wind, had worked with Min Ho in TV drama Secret Campus and the movie Our School E.T. respectively.
Min Ho denied having these romantic links.
'They are just like siblings to me.
'I have dated two girls since I turned 19, but I'm not seeing anyone now.'
He also emphasised that he is 'definitely not a two-timer, and I won't get into a relationship easily'.
Yet he is clear about what sort of girls he likes - those who are 'innocent and elegant'.
In an e-mail interview with U-Weekly, Bo Young denied dating Min Ho.
'I have worked with Min Ho in three productions before, so it's natural that we become close friends. Despite the rumours, we are purely friends,' she said.
Lee Min Ho celebrated his 22 birthday with 4,500 fans at his first fan meeting on 21 June at Dome Art Hall, Children's Grand Park in Seoul. The party was called Minoz Happy Day mini-concert (미노즈 해피데이 미니 콘서트). "Minoz" (미노즈) is the name of Min-ho's newly created fan club!
The fan meeting marks his first public appearance after his recent knee surgery. The first thing Min-ho said when he came on stage was to greet his fans with "I've missed you so much. The surgery was a success and as you can see, I have recovered from it."
Fans got to meet and interact with their beloved star and Min-ho's friends also made a special appearance at the meeting. As a special surprise for fans, Min-ho introduced them to his mother.
First up, Lee Min-ho received gifts from his fans and opened some of the presents. Min-ho distributed baby plums to his fans. They happily accepted and Min-ho ate a couple of those juicy plumbs while he opened his birthday gifts.
At one point, Min-ho introduced his mother and fans greeted her with a loud applause. Special guests who were at Min-ho's fan meeting were Kim Hyun-joong and Kim Joon (and T-MAX). And as mentioned earlier, K.will also made an appearance and sang a song. Kim Bum apologized for his absence (due to a busy schedule) via a video clip he pre-recorded earlier.
The star of Boys Before Flowers sang the song My Everything (F4 Special Edition album) for his fans. Min-ho thanked K.will for helping him with the song.
At the end of the meeting, Min-ho read a letter he prepared to his fans. He read the contents of the letter with a shaky, emotional voice. Min-ho obviously really treasures his fans and is awfully pleased to finally have enough fans to form his own fan club.
Because of the huge number of fans, two meetings were held. One at 1pm and another at 4:30pm. Fans from Korea, Japan and Taiwan attended Lee Min-ho's very first fan meeting.
Lee Min Ho, Independent from Boys over Flowers? ♥ 5:33 PM
Pretty boy Lee Min Ho finally had his leg surgery after holding back for so long. Well we can't blame him since his fame was rising so abruptly after his hit drama "Boys Over Flowers". Although he was expected to be hospitalized for about two weeks, the pretty boy recovered quickly and was released from the hospital just six days after the surgery!
He hasn't even had enough rest, and there's already talks of an upcoming fan meeting. Supposedly, this is his first independent fan meeting of Lee Min Ho ever since all the promotional events with the rest of the F4 boys. It is said to be held at the Seoul Dome Art Hall on the 21st, headlining the event as "Minoz Happy Day Mini Concert." Looks like this flower boy has blossomed and no longer needs the support of the rest of the crew to hold up the fame.
Lee Min Ho wants to do another contemporary drama ♥ 12:10 AM
That’s what he said in regards to his next project, according to an interview with MBC Section TV. He was asked about what kind of projects he wants to do in the future, and his answer was, “I want to try to do a trendy drama for one more time.” This answer drew a lot of attention from viewers.
Since Lee Min Ho is still young, with his own charm he wants to try again to work in a trendy drama like “Boys Over Flowers.” Lee Min Ho said playfully, that as the successor of “Shinhwa Group”, the conglomerate son, Gu Jun Pyo wishes to venture the business. His witty answer combined with friendly laughter as he looked around shyly.
As Lee Min Ho got a lot of support and love from the audience as Gu Jun Pyo, he realized this kind of role doesn’t come anytime. It’s the kind of role that can turn an actor into stardom quickly. Yesterday, Lee Min Ho underwent a knee surgery to remove the metal rod in his knee. And according to his management, the surgery went really well and now he’s taking some time off to rest and to stabilize his health.
Then after taking a well-deserved break, Lee Min Ho will celebrate his birthday with fans on June 21 at Seoul’s Grand Park, Dom Art Hall as he resumes his activity in this fanmeeting.
After their love triangle rivalry in Boys Before Flowers, Lee Min Ho and Kim Hyun Joong will do battle once again on a magazine cover. Korea's Asta TV magazine for May will be releasing double cover issues, featuring Lee Min Ho and Kim Hyun Joong separately for the first time in their history. According to Asta chief editor, Jeon Seung Hwa, "Both guys are enjoying extremely high popularity at the moment. So we decided to release double covers for our May issue. Although the May issue features Hyun Joong and his SS501 members, the fact is that when he was on the cover for our April issue and it sold out within 4 days. We had to do a reprint because of the demand and that shows how popular he is right now."
Most recently, they were also pitted in another rivalry after Min Ho was picked as the model for Pepsi's Nex while Hyun Joong will model for Coca Cola's Dynamic Kin
Huh. Boys Before Flowers star Lee Min-ho is pairing with well-known songwriter Park Geun-tae to release a digital single. A “famous female rapper” is also reportedly featured on the track.
Guess he’s not about to let his co-star Gu Hye-sun have all the fun packing her resumé with other activities. Not only will a single be sold, an accompanying music video will be shot (it’s still being cast, but the director has been selected).
Although Lee will be singing the track, don’t consider it a foray into a kpop career; it’s more like a fancy CF. This comes as part of an ad campaign for Cass beer, for which Lee is brand model.
As we know, Korea’s got a pretty good track record in the branded entertainment field. The people behind this project express hope of creating another sensation like the uber-popular series of Anymotion/Anyclub cell phone adverts a few years ago that starred Lee Hyori and Eric. Those were more like mini-movies than commercials in scope, and also released digital singles.
Counter to Lee’s arrogant onscreen image from BBF — or even his shy offscreen one — the song is being described as “exuberant club dance music.” The gist of the song lyrics paints Lee as an innocent guy who gets seduced by a woman (they’re currently casting for his female partner). The director, Cha Eun-taek, was also the man behind Hyori’s “Anymotion” and “U Go Girl” videos.
Um. Lee Min-ho, love ya dude, and I think you’re a great budding actor, but I may just have to draw the line at exuberant club dance music. Don’t let them Jang Geun-seok you into a career of funny-but-meaningless glorified commercial
